With theme support, so you can change your style, this freeware is a great application to have. It allows you to measure your disks sequential read and write speeds. It is one of the more popular apps off the Microsoft store for S.S.D. CrystalDiskMark is a disk benchmark software. Benchmark your drivesĬrystalDiskMark allows you to test data for benchmarking your system hard drives. If you execute CrystalDiskMark under Administrator rights, it will not show your network drive. The benchmark results are not compatible between different majors versions. Please note that using CrystalDiskMark may shorten SSD/USB memory life. CrystalDiskMark is a small benchmark utility for your Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and Solid State Disks (SSDs). This benchmark app is available with support for many languages. CrystalDiskMark performs good low-queue reads and provides multiple test modes for drives.

It’s open source, free, and one of the best free drive benchmark software choices. The 4KiB Q8t8 tests it runs will use 4k file sizes to test the drives, as it is more resource-intensive. CrystalDiskMark is one of the most popular benchmarking tools for computer and external drives. The application will measure section and random performances of reading, writing, and mixing. Notable featuresĬheck your disk benchmark with various measure modes such as peak, real-world, and demo. With the release of Crystaldiskinfo 7, the developer is voiced in the special Japanese version.

In addition to Shizuku, Tsukumo Tokka is available as a unique skin as well. Application users can change the app’s skin to the special Shizuku Edition, which features this character. I’m happy to get your feedback in the comments. The developer for this app, Crystal Dew World, features an anima mascot named Suisho Shizuku. Hope this helps you with your storage IT work.

All that is left is to archive the results or load them into your favorite spreadsheet for analysis and comparison. The output will include the parameters of the test, the name of the machine, the label of the disk and the IO metrics. All the results, both raw and processed, are written to disk for further analysis in XML/CSV format.

Introducing DiskSpdAuto! DiskSpdAuto is a PowerShell script that executes a predefined set of IO tests on a disk or disks without any human intervention. This creates a great opportunity to write wrappers in PowerShell around DiskSpd to accomplish what your heart desires. One nice thing about DiskSpd is that it can output information in XML format, thus allowing you to load the results of the test in a structured manner. The concept is very similar to tools you would typically find in the *inx world (Bonnie++, IOzone, XDD, etc). DiskSpd is an open source project by Microsoft, which delivers a command-line utility to measure disk IO. Simply click on the title for a free copy.

Advanced load benchmarking can be configured, as well as full drive information and data erasing via secure erase, enhanced secure erase, TRIM and overwriting. Since the 2015 version 4, CrystalDiskMark changed and became a GUI layer on top of a recently released IO benchmarking tool, DiskSpd. TxBench is one of our newly discovered benchmarks that we works much the same as Crystal DiskMark, but with several other features. Unfortunately further UI limitations, such as the inability to use a test file size outside of a short set list of values hinder the effectiveness of this tool in some scenarios. If you want a fast seat-of-the-pants guess, do 1, but keep in mind it can be wildly variant between passes if something else happens to be going on in the SAN. This limitation is partially addressed by using DiskMarkStream, which is a GUI app that can automate CrystalDiskMark. It’ll look like this: Across the top, set the first three dropdowns to: 1 the number of test passes you want to run. Crystal Disk Mark puts up a decent performance and it serves its purpose very well. Currently, the program allows us to measure sequential and random read/write speeds. CrystalDiskMark is a wonderful tool, but being a GUI application it is unsuitable for using in an automated environment or when you need to test several disks with several sets of parameters without constant human intervention. CrystalDiskMark is designed to quickly test the performance of your hard drives. If you have followed my previous article titled IO Performance Benchmarking 101, you know that I am a big fan of using CrystalDiskMark for measuring disk IO throughput.
